Broadway News Jim Parsons Returns to the Party in Broadway’s Boys in the Band Tonight The Emmy-winning actor stars as Michael in the Broadway premiere of Mart Crowley’s 1968 play about a group of gay friends living in New York City.

Emmy Award-winning Big Bang Theory and Normal Heart star Jim Parsons returns to the Broadway production of The Boys in the Band May 15 after sustaining an onstage injury last weekend.

The May 12 evening performance of the comedic drama was canceled following Parsons’ injury, and understudy Matt McGrath (Broken Hearts Club, Cabaret) stepped into the role of Michael in his absence.

Tony winner Joe Mantello directs a cast that also includes Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, Matt Bomer, Robin De Jesús, Brian Hutchison, Michael Benjamin Washington, Tuc Watkins, and Charlie Carver.

The limited engagement, produced by Ryan Murphy and David Stone, will open May 31 and is scheduled to run through August 12.
