News Joel Grey to Be Honored by National Yiddish Theatre June 10 Tony and Academy Award-winning actor Joel Grey and Jewish communal leader Morris W. Offit will be honored by the National Yiddish Theatre – Folksbiene at its annual gala concert.

Held June 10 at 8 PM at the New York University Skirball Center, the event will be hosted by Drama Desk-nominated film, television and stage star Mike Burstyn and will feature Grammy Award-winning klezmer performer Frank London, leading his Klezmer All-Stars.

In celebration of the continuing impact of Yiddish on American popular culture, gala performers will include Eleanor Reissa, Elmore James, Stephen Mo Hanan, Danny Burstein, Judy Blazer and Joanne Borts. Also featured will be the young actress Rachel Yucht and the acclaimed klezmer artist Annette Ezekiel.

The evening supports Folksbiene’s mission to celebrate the Jewish experience through the performing arts and to transmit a cultural legacy in new ways.

Tom Brokaw will introduce Offit, chairman of Offit Capital, past president of UJA-Federation and former chairman of both the Jewish Museum and Johns Hopkins University.

Co-conceived by Folksbiene artistic director Zalmen Mlotek, and the event producer Moishe Rosenfeld, the gala concert is co-chaired by Stanley Bergman, Sandy Cahn and Carol Levin. Tickets and more information can be obtained by calling (212) 213-2120 or visiting nationalyiddishtheatre.org.
