News John Cameron Mitchell to Offer Sneak Peek of Hedwig Sequel at Afterglow Festival Golden Globe Award nominee John Cameron Mitchell will give audiences an early look at a sequel to his cult musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch as part of Provincetown's Afterglow Festival, which will also feature performances by Bridget Everett, Justin Vivian Bond, Cole Escola and Amber Martin.

Running Sept. 11-16, the second annual festival will play the Crown and Anchor arts complex. Conceived by John Cameron Mitchell and Quinn Cox, Afterglow offers a mix of established and under-the-radar performers who push the boundaries of innovative art.

On Sept. 16 Mitchell will join Hedwig collaborator Stephen Trask for a work-in-progress reading of a sequel to the iconic, cult Off-Broadway musical about a transgender rocker, which premiered in 1998 at the Jane Street Theatre. Mitchell will star in the presentation, returning to the central role. He also directed and starred in the film adaptation of Hedwig and directed the film of Rabbit Hole.

The festival opens Sept. 11 with Starsky + Cox's Steer the Stars, a benefit evening of astrologic music and performance.

Amber Martin will offer Amber Alert!, an evening of original characters, monologues and music Sept. 12; followed by Tony nominee Justin Vivian Bond, who will share songs and stories, billed as Mx Bond's Experiment in Terror.

Joseph Keckler will present I Am An Opera, a personal journey through life and art (Sept. 12); and playwright-actress Tina Alexis Allen will perform Secrets of A Holy Father for Provincetown audiences before its Off-Broadway run (Sept. 13). Singer Lady Rizo will perform her decadent evening of song, In High Definition, followed by glam punk rocker Heloise & The Savior Faire's White Dwarf and Diamond Dust, on Sept. 13.

Downtown belting bad girl Bridget Everett, fresh off a set of hit Joe's Pub concerts, will perform American Champion Sept. 14and comic duo Cole Escola and Erin Markey will offer a comedic cabaret in Check It Out later that evening.

Dan Fishback's solo performance thirtynothing, about his own life, the AIDS crisis and the generation gap between older and younger gay men, and John Cantwell's drag spectacular Love, Connie, will be offered on Sept. 15.

The final night on Sept. 16 will also include Rob Me Blind by "Shortbus" actor and singer-songwriter Jay Brannan.
