News John Lithgow Will Bring Stories by Heart to North Shore Center for Performing Arts Award-winning actor John Lithgow will perform his solo show Stories by Heart at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie Nov. 1, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Lithgow was last seen on Broadway in a Tony-nominated performance in The Columnist. The Tony and Emmy winner's stage credits also include All My Sons, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Sweet Smell of Success, The Front Page and Beyond Therapy.

His film work includes "The World According to Garp," "Terms of Endearment" and "Shrek," and his TV credits include "Third Rock From the Sun," "Dexter" and "How I Met Your Mother."

Stories by Heart, which has not seen before in the Chicago area, is a personal reminiscence using the power of storytelling as its narrative glue. Lithgow traces his roots as an actor and storyteller, working two stories read to him as a child ("Uncle Fred Flits By" by P. G. Wodehouse and "Haircut" by Ring Lardner) into his own narrative.

The show was first produced at Lincoln Center in New York in 2008, and it was widely admired as a poignant tribute to Lithgow's parents and grandmother.

Tickets go on sale July 19 and will be available by calling (847) 673-6300 or visiting NorthShoreCenter.org.
