John Rando's advice to young directors?>

"Assist if you can," he told Playbill On-Line's Ernio Hernandez for PBOL's weekly Brief Encounter interview. Rando was lucky and/or talented enough in his young career to work with such notable directors as John Tillinger, Jack O'Brien, Lynne Meadow and Joe Dowling.

"I really felt that I had this amazing incubation as a director in American theatre," he said.

Also in the June 25-July 1 signature Q&A interview, Rando discusses Urinetown's 2003 tour and the fall debut of a new musical, Dance of the Vampires, by composer Jim Steinman.
