News Jon Rua Debuts as Hamilton Today, With Lin-Manuel Miranda and Javier Muñoz Out Jon Rua, who understudies Alexander Hamilton in Broadway's Hamilton, makes his debut as the titular Founding Father at the Dec. 20 matinee performance at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Both Lin-Manuel Miranda and Javier Muñoz are out.

Muñoz, the Hamilton alternate — who usually performs Sunday matinees — tweeted that Rua will make his Hamilton debut today because he is still not feeling well enough to perform. Read the tweets below.

 

 

Rua normally performs in the ensemble and as Charles Lee. He also understudied the lead role of Usnavi when he performed in Miranda's In the Heights. He has also been seen on Broadway in Hands on a Hardbody.

Brandon Hudson, a swing in the Hamilton company, will also perform today.

Hamilton is inspired by the book "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow and features book, music and lyrics by Miranda, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and direction by Thomas Kail. Visit HamiltonBroadway.com.
