A cast of cabaret favorites will headline Jonathan Larson's Musical Heirs: The Next Generation of Theater Songwriters, which will play the Chashama Theater on Sept. 21, 28 and Oct. 5 and 12.

The evening, directed by Scott Barnes, features works by new songwriters who have all been awarded Jonathan Larson grants. Larson, the composer lyricist of the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning musical Rent, died suddenly and tragically before that show's Off-Broadway premiere. Among the songwriters offering tunes are Jenny Giering, Peter Mills, John Bucchino, Ricky Ian Gordon, John Mercurio and David Kirshenbaum.

Co-hosted by Karen Oberlin and original Rent cast member Timothy Britten Parker, Musical Heirs will feature musical direction by Brett Kristofferson. The company includes David Gurland, Bobby Belfry, Kristy Cates, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Susan Owen, Matthew Helton and the aforementioned Karen Oberlin.

The Chashama Theater is located at 111 West 42nd Street, between Broadway and Sixth Avenue. Show time is 7 PM, and ticket are priced at $15. Call (212) 206-1515 for reservations, or go to www.smarttix.com.
