Classic Arts News Jos_ Carreras to Appear at Concert Commemorating U.S. Attack on Libya Tenor Jos_ Carerras will appear at a concert tomorrow in Tripoli marking the 20th anniversary of the U.S. air attacks on the city, Agence France-Presse reports.
The concert will take place at 2:30 a.m., the same hour that U.S. warplanes bombed the Libyan capital in response to the country's support for international terrorism. American pop star Lionel Richie and other musicians will also participate.

"Artists from the U.S. and Europe will take part to send the whole message that art is capable of uniting peoples whom politics has divided and to express that regret for what their governments did," a Libyan official said.

The festival is named the "Hana Festival for Freedom and Peace," after a girl, said to be the adopted daughter of Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi, who died in the attack.
