A magician never reveals his secrets, but sometimes a theatre maker does!

Josh Gad took to social media to explain how the starry finale of Broadway's Gutenberg! The Musical! is executed each night at the James Earl Jones Theatre.

"A lot of people ask if we know beforehand who our @gutenbergbway [p]roducer is going to be beforehand," Gad explained on Instagram, adding, "and the answer is yes. We always do a rehearsal before the show."

Watch recent guest producer Marilu Henner rehearse for the guest spot in the video below.

Previous guest producers have included Steve Martin and Martin Short, Billy Crystal, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Kerry Washington, Will Ferrell, Patti LuPone, Ariana DeBose, “Weird” Al Yankovic, Al Roker, Senator Chuck Schumer, Cynthia Erivo, Nathan Lane, Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jordan Fisher, Steve Guttenberg, Triumph The Insult Comic Dog (and Robert Smigel),  and more.

The Broadway premiere of Gutenberg! The Musical! runs at the James Earl Jones through January 28. Gad and Andrew Rannells star in the two-hander, written by Scott Brown and Anthony King.

In Gutenberg! The Musical!, the dynamic duo play Bud and Doug, two guys who have written a musical about Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press. Convinced their show is ready for Broadway, they are holding a backers' performance in which they play all the parts, aided by hundreds of baseball caps adorned by character names.

Alex Timbers directs the Broadway premiere, leading a creative that includes scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Emily Rebholz, lighting designer Jeff Croiter, and sound designers M.L. Dogg and Cody Spencer. Music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations are by T.O. Sterrett, vocal supervision is by Liz Caplan, and music direction is by Marco Paguia.

Casting is by C12 Casting. Rachel Sterner serves as production stage manager. Russell Daniels and Sam Hartley are standbys for Bud and Doug.
