A biopic about the late comic actor Chris Farley is in development with Tony-nominated actor Josh Gad stepping behind the lens to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project is still untitled.

Emmy winner Paul Walter Hauser is set to star as the late Saturday Night Live alum. Hauser recently won an Emmy and Golden Globe for his role on the series Black Bird opposite Taron Egerton.

Gad, seen on Broadway this season in Gutenberg! the Musical!, has been behind the scenes before as creator, writer, and producer of his animated musical series Central Park, but this could potentially mark his film directorial debut. 

The screenplay will be written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber based on the biography The Chris Farley Show: A Biography in Three Acts by Tom Farley Jr. and Tanner Colby. Mean Girls producer Lorne Michaels will produce via his Broadway Video banner.
