One-time teen screen queen Ione Skye ("Say Anything," "Gas Food Lodging") will join Josh Hamilton (Proof, As Bees in Honey Drown) in Jonathan Marc Sherman's Evolution, beginning performances Sept. 27 at the Bleecker Street Theatre. Lisa Gottlieb (The Principality of Sorrows) directs.
Evolution is billed as a modern morality play, in which Henry, hoping to test his own thesis on the theories of Charles Darwin, asks a simple question: What do I want? As he travels to Los Angeles with the love of his life, Hope, he discovers there are many difficult answers to that simple question. Sherman is also the author of Women and Wallace, Sophistry and Veins and Thumbtacks. Hamilton starred in Sherman's Wonderful Time at WPA several years back.
Co-starring with Hamilton and Skye are Keira Naughton and Peter Dinklage. Naughton, who last appeared on Broadway in Dance of Death, returns to New York after playing Sarah, the Karate Girl, in the Kennedy Center's Company. Dinklage's recent stage roles include Poona the Fuck Dog, I Wanna Be Adored and The Destiny of Pete.
Tickets are $15. For reservations, call (212) 260-3750. Urban Empire, producers of Evolution, is on the web at http://urbanempire.org.
