Young portrays Judas Iscariot in Des McAnuff's production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice rock oratorio that began life at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival last summer prior to its Broadway bow. He originated the role in the Ontario staging.

In the week prior to Superstar's Broadway opening, Young suffered from a respiratory infection that also kept him out of the production. He returned for the March 22 opening night at the Neil Simon Theatre, where critics singled out his performance.

A representative for the production told Playbill.com on April 4 that Young's bacterial infection had developed into laryngitis. He last performed in the production on March 29. Young is currently on vocal rest awaiting an all-clear from his doctor to return to the production.

Superstar cast members Jeremy Kushnier and Nick Cartell are covering the role of Judas in Young's absence.

Young has also been seen as Marius in Les Miserables and as Che in the Stratford production of Evita.
