News Joy Franz to Star in Driving Miss Daisy at Harbor Lights Theater Company The Harbor Lights Theater Company will present Alfred Uhry's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Driving Miss Daisy, starring Joy Franz, beginning May 9.

Performances will continue through May 18 at the Music Hall at Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens.

Directed by Stephen Nachamie, Driving Miss Daisy will feature Franz (Pippin, Into the Woods) as Daisy, Larry Marshall (Hair, The Color Purple) as Hoke and Jay Montgomery (Falsettos) as Hoolie.

Here's how the production is billed: "Driving Miss Daisy, by Alfred Uhry, begins in 1948, and tells the story of the unlikely relationship between Daisy Werthan, a wealthy 72 year-old Jewish widow in Atlanta, and her chauffeur, Hoke Colburn, a proud, soft spoken African-American man. Spending twenty five years together, during a period of massive changes in America — in which they both face bigotry and discrimination — they ultimately become friends."

Driving Miss Daisy was adapted into a film in 1989, which won four Oscars, including Best Picture.
