News "Joyful Noise" Soundtrack, Featuring Jeremy Jordan, Dolly Parton, Queen Latifah, Debuts at #1 On Billboard Soundtrack Chart WaterTower Music's soundtrack to Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures’ "Joyful Noise," which marks the motion picture debut of upcoming Newsies star Jeremy Jordan, debuts at #1 on Billboard’s Soundtrack Chart, #1 on the Billboard Gospel chart, #2 on Billboard’s Christian chart and #2 on the Billboard Independent Current Albums chart. It also landed a Top 20 debut on Billboard’s Top Current Albums chart.

The soundtrack also features performances by Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and Oscar nominee Dolly Parton; Oscar nominee, Grammy and Golden Globe Award winner Queen Latifah; BET and NAACP Award winner Keke Palmer; 11-time Singing News female vocalist of the year, three-time Grammy nominee and three-time Dove nominee Karen Peck; and seven-time Grammy, 35-time Stellar, 12-time Dove, five-time NAACP, and two-time BET Music Award winner Kirk Franklin.

Five-time Grammy winner Mervyn Warren produced and arranged the "Joyful Noise" soundtrack.

Parton, who penned three new songs for the collection, recently performed two of those songs on national TV: “From Here to the Moon and Back” on the "Late Show with David Letterman," and “Not Enough,” a duet with co-star Queen Latifah, on NBC’s "Today Show."

The movie features Latifah, who starred in the 2002 movie musical "Chicago"; Parton, who wrote the score of the Broadway musical 9 to 5; and Jordan, who recently finished a month-long run in Bonnie & Clyde and will soon star in the Broadway-bound production of Newsies. Written and directed by Todd Graff, the cast also includes Keke Palmer, Kris Kristofferson, Courtney B. Vance, Jesse L. Martin, Chloe Bailey, Judd Lormand, Valencia Barnes, Cait Johnson, Steve Warren, Jilian McLendon, Katie Kneeland and Dexter Darden.

"Joyful Noise," from Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros., "centers on an unlikely friendship that’s the result of a choir director’s death. His widow (Parton) assumes she’s going to be left in charge of the struggling choir, but a strong-willed mother of two (Latifah) has already taken on the job. Soon, they learn to work together, and with the help of the choir, make musical magic on stage."
