The tour repertoire will include staples, new music, and Nordic and Estonian works. Three of the five tour programs include Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, which the orchestra recorded for Telarc in 2001. A performance at the Orange County Performing Arts Center's new concert hall will feature Leonidas Kavakos perfoming the Brahms Violin Concerto.
Other works to be performed include Erkki-Sven T‹‹r's Zeitraum, and Nielsen's Symphony No. 4 "The Inextinguishable."
J‹rvi said, "I am so proud of this orchestra and the work we are doing together. It is an honor to travel with the CSO and demonstrate our artistry in California : a vital arts market."
This will be the third domestic tour for J‹rvi and the CSO since J‹rvi became music director in 2001.
