News Judith Light Named National Ambassador for Kids' Night on Broadway Judith Light, a two-time Tony Award winner for her performances in The Assembled Parties and Other Desert Cities, will serve as the national ambassador for the 2015 Kids' Night on Broadway.

Now in its 19th year, the annual Kids' Night On Broadway, which offers children a free ticket to a Broadway show when accompanied by a paying adult, will be held Jan. 9-15, 2015.

"Kids' Night On Broadway is an annual event when kids ages 6 to 18 can see participating Broadway shows for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult," press notes state. "A Kids' Night On Broadway ticket includes pre-theatre activities, restaurant discounts, parking discounts, educational programs, and more."

"Broadway has always been and always will be such an important part of my life," Light said in a statement. "I love the magic that happens on the stage, the joy of bringing unique and creative stories to life, and the opportunity to participate in such a welcoming, friendly community that shares a deep passion for the art of theatre. I'm also thrilled that we can bring a focus to LGBT equality through the collaboration with Point Foundation, an organization deserving of recognition for their efforts to promote the continued education of LGBT students."

"In addition to her award-winning talents and impressive Broadway credentials, she portrayed one of the all-time favorite moms on a popular TV series. Her passion and involvement with Point Foundation reiterates her devotion and commitment to education."

Light is also a Tony nominee for Lombardi. Her other Broadway credits include A Doll's House and Herzl. The Emmy winner has appeared in "Ugly Betty" and "One Life to Live." Point Foundation is the nation’s largest scholarship-granting organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) students of merit. Participating shows to date include Aladdin, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Chicago, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, Honeymoon in Vegas, If/Then, Jersey Boys, Kinky Boots, Les Misérables, The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, Matilda The Musical, The Phantom of the Opera, On the Town, Pippin, Rock of Ages, Side Show and Wicked.

Additionally, restaurants in Times Square will offer specials for Kids' Night on Broadway ticket-holders.

Tickets will be available for purchase Nov. 5 at 11 AM.

Throughout the year, Kids' Night On Broadway will take place in multiple cities around the country on various dates.
