Actress-writer Julia Sweeney will offer a sneak peek at her newest one woman show, A New Work-in-Progress, from Nov. 5 to Nov. 9 at New York's Ars Nova Theatre.
Sweeney, who made her Broadway debut in the short-lived God Said 'Ha!', has conceived a new evening about her journey adopting a child and the challenges of dating as a single mother. Mark Brokaw, who helmed Off Broadway's How I Learned to Drive, As Bees in Honey Drown and This Is Our Youth directs.
A former "Saturday Night Live" cast member, Sweeney is currently a writer and consultant for HBO's acclaimed comedy "Sex & the City." She starred in the films "It's Pat" and "God Said 'Ha!" and also had a small role in "Pulp Fiction."
Performances for Sweeney's new show are scheduled for Nov. 5, 7, 8 and 9 at 8 PM. The Ars Nova Theatre is located in New York City at 511 West 54th Street. Admission is $5; call (212) 206-1515 for reservations.
