Julie Andrews returns to host the second installment of the "My Favorite Broadway" series on Oct. 16 at City Center.

Andrews will host "My Favorite Broadway: The Love Songs," a one-night only Broadway all-star concert. The show will be taped by PBS' "Great Performances" series and will be released later in both VHS and DVD formats. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS.

[Editor's Note: The Daily News reported, Oct. 18, that Andrews did a brief duet at the concert with Michael Crawford on "The Rain in Spain." The surprise was that, owing to her vocal troubles and surgery, it was expected that Andrews would never sing in public again. The unexpected duet apparently closed with a cheering standing ovation by the crowd.]

Having recently accepted the title of Dame Commander of the British Empire. Andrews said she was thrilled to be asked back and that she was "looking forward to renewing some great friendships and sharing the stage with some people I have long admired."

Encouraged by the success of last year's "My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies," Andrews returns with a new theme, "My Favorite Broadway: The Love Songs." The format for the show includes those love songs which are considered the audience favorites that originally won the stars acclaim, as well as the artists' own selections. Directed by Tony Award-winner Graciela Daniele, "My Favorite Broadway: The Love Songs," will star Michael Crawford, Linda Eder, Peter Gallagher, Heather Headley, Jennifer Holliday, Rebecca Luker, Marin Mazzie, Bebe Neuwirth, Adam Pascal, Chita Rivera, Brent Spiner and Patrick Stewart, among others.

Musical director Paul Gemignani will lead the American Theater Orchestra for the show, which will be taped for Public Television's "Great Performances." A prepared statement indicates that a "CD recording, a home video cassette and DVD will be made from the live performance."

The show's producers are Target, Metropolitan Entertainment Group (MEG), television producer Allen Newman as well as film, television and Broadway producer, Tony Adams.

Leading national retailer Target Stores presents the series, which is the brianchild of Metropolitan Entertainment Group's senior vice president of theatre and television, Jeff Rowland.

Tickets are on sale and range in price from $250, $150 and $90 and can be purchased by phoning Cititix (212) 581-1212 or by visiting either the City Center box office or www.citycenter.org.
