News "Jungle Book: Origins" Casts Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch and Cate Blanchett A trio of film stars – Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch and Cate Blanchett – have joined the cast of the Warner Brothers version of the Rudyard Kipling classic, "Jungle Book: Origins," which will be directed by Andy Serkis ("Lord of the Rings," "Planet of The Apes").

According to the NY Daily News, "Bale will voice the panther Bagheera, Cumberbatch will portray the villainous tiger Shere Khan and Blanchett will play the a python named Kaa. Other actors joining the cast are Naomie Harris, Tom Hollander, Eddie Marsan and Rohan Chand as the human boy Mowgli."

Serkis will voice the role of the bear Baloo, the human boy Mowgli's friend.

"Jungle Book: Origins" will be a live action film and is shooting for a release in October of 2016, a year after the Disney version of the film, employing both live action and animation, which is set to be released in October of 2015.
