News Just Dandy: Pimpernel's Sills Is Ravenal Aug. 5, Then John Wilkes Booth in Assassins The Booth has its Booth, and he is Douglas Sills. The Tony-nominated star of The Scarlet Pimpernel will portray Abraham Lincoln's assassin, actor John Wilkes Booth, in Assassins. The Joe Mantello-directed Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's dark musical begins performances at the Booth Nov. 1 with an opening Nov. 29.

The Booth has its Booth, and he is Douglas Sills. The Tony-nominated star of The Scarlet Pimpernel will portray Abraham Lincoln's assassin, actor John Wilkes Booth, in Assassins. The Joe Mantello-directed Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's dark musical begins performances at the Booth Nov. 1 with an opening Nov. 29. But before Sills steps into the shoes of the "vainglorious actor," he'll portray vainglorious gambler Gaylord Ravenal in a one-night only performance of Show Boat at the Hollywood Bowl Aug. 5. Performing with him with be The Rocky Horror Show's Alice Ripley as Magnolia Hawks and Beauty and the Beast's Susan Egan as Julie LaVerne.

Completing the cast are TV's Dick Van Patten (Cap'n Andy), Shirley Knight (Parthy), MGM "Show Boat" film's William Warfield (narrator), Hope Levy (Ellie May Chipley), Michael Paternostro (Frank Schultz), Gregg Baker (Joe), Sharon Wilkins (Queenie), Melissa Dye (Kim), Joel Brooks (Jim), Dan Gauthier (Steve Baker), Joe Joyce (Charlie), Lyle Kanouse (Sheriff Vallon), Joe Medalis (Windy), Alexa Nikolas (Young Kim), Graham Shiels (Pete), and Jean Sincere (“Old Lady”), plus the Mitch Hanlon Singers (Mitch Hanlon, director).
