The world premiere of Will Arbery's Evanston Salt Costs Climbing begins previews August 30 prior to an official opening August 31 at White Heron Theatre in Nantucket, Massachusetts.
Directed by Dustin Wills, performances will continue through September 15.
The cast features Justin Kirk (Love! Valour! Compassion!, Weeds), Keira Naughton (The Rivals, Dance of Death), Howard Overshown (Saint Joan, A Free Man of Color), and Rachel Sachnoff (Wheelchair, All the Little Things We Kill).
As salt truck drivers Peter and Basil battle one storm after another in Evanston, Illinois, Maiworm, the assistant director of Public Works, weighs the costs of a groundbreaking de-icing technology. It’s a decision that will test her allegiance to urban planning pioneer, Jane Jacobs, for whom she named her own daughter, and impact the lives and livelihood of her employees.
The production also has sets by Jean Kim, costumes by Seth Bodie, lighting by Masha Tsmiring, sound by Tyler Keiffer, projections by Nicholas Hussong, and stage management by Hannah Wichmann.
White Heron Theatre, New Neighborhood, Una Jackman, and Rebecca Kitt present the limited engagement.
Tickets range from $60–$70 and are available online at WhiteHeronTheatre.org and by phone at (508) 825-5268.
