Conceived by In Darfur playwright Miller (book and lyrics) and director Josh Hecht (Wearing Lorca's Bowtie, Out of Iceland), Amandine has music and lyrics by Emmy Award winner Horne ("First Things Last").

Presented June 19 at the Loft at Judson Memorial Church, the 6 PM evening will begin with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from Gramercy Tavern. Funds raised will support the fully staged October premiere of Amandine at Dixon Place.

The evening will feature performances by Bond (Kiki & Herb, Jukebox Jackie), Domingo (Scottsboro Boys, Passing Strange), Federer (Wicked), Mac (The Lily's Revenge, A Midsummer Night's Dream) and author-performer Albo ("The Junket").

Here's how the work is billed: "Based on a true story, Amandine's unique journey begins in 18th century France where she is caught between genders in a time of conformity. Unsure of who or what she is, Amandine discovers what it means to be a woman and a man in a world that demands a choice… a world not too different from our own."
