Kacie Sheik, Whitney Bashor Join Cast of NYMF's White Noise

NY Musical Theatre Fest   Kacie Sheik, Whitney Bashor Join Cast of NYMF's White Noise
Initial casting has been announced for White Noise, a "white supremacist teen pop musical," to be produced at the New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Performances will be Sept. 18-30 at Barrow Group Theatre, 312 W. 36th Street.

Kacie Sheik, sister of Spring Awakening composer Duncan Sheik and a veteran of the Las Vegas company of We Will Rock You, will play determined older Sister Eva. Whitney Bashor, a recent University of Michigan graduate, will play little sister Blanche. Sheik and Bashor appeared in earlier readings of White Noise.

White Noise was conceived by director Ryan J. Davis and features book, music and lyrics by Joe Drymala, with additional songs by Ben Cohn & Sean McDaniel, Rick Crom (Drama Desk Nominee for Newsical), Glen Kelly (dance arranger of The Producers, Spamalot and The Drowsy Chaperone), Laurence O'Keefe (Bat Boy, Legally Blonde) Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (Edges) and Eric Svejcar (musical director of Jacques Brel...).

White Noise is billed as "A Cautionary Musical," and is inspired by the real-life teenage white supremacist pop/folk band Prussian Blue. It's described by the authors as follows: "An adorable pair of sisters, Blanche and Eva, lead the teen band White Noise, mixing irresistible harmonies with white power rhetoric and taking the nation by storm. Their message of racial purity resonates with young people across America and the rise of White Noise coincides with a rise in the white supremacist movement which threatens to engulf the country, as Blanche and Eva prove themselves to be masters of the most terrifying and unstoppable form of Fascism in today’s culture: Top Forty pop."
