Cabaret & Concert News Karen Mason Toplines an Evening of Kander & Ebb Showstoppers The concert will play venues in Manhattan and New Jersey.

Karen Mason, the Drama Desk-nominated actor seen in the original Broadway cast of the musical Mamma Mia! and other hits, will help salute the Broadway songwriting team of John Kander and Fred Ebb in two March concerts.

Mason told Playbill that American Showstoppers: An Evening of Kander & Ebb will include her performing several of the duo’s hits, including “Chief Cook And Bottle Washer“ from The Rink, “Married” from Cabaret, “How Lucky Can You Get?” from Funny Lady, and “Go Visit Your Grandmother” from 70, Girls, 70.

The Fred Barton Orchestra will accompany the evening, which will also feature Brent Barrett, Nick Adams, Jesse Luttrell, N’Kenge, and others. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 PM March 10 at the Michael Schimmel Center at Pace University in New York City, and 7:30 PM March 16 at the Jay & Linda Grunin Center For the Arts at Ocean County College in Toms River, New Jersey.

Mason released her latest CD, It’s About Time, March 3. The title track of the new recording was written by Mason’s husband Paul Rolnick and Shelly Markham. Other songs on the disc include “What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?,” “A House Is Not a Home,” “Over the Rainbow,” “The Man That Got Away,” and more. Click here to order the new recording.

Mason’s other upcoming concerts include the 4th Chicago Cabaret Convention April 21 at the Park West in Chicago, Mason at Mama’s on Sundays and Mondays May 7–29 at Don’t Tell Mama in New York City, and an album rollout gig at a Chicago nightspot to be announced May 17-20.

Mason has been a special guest performer on two of Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas cruises.
