Over Labor Day weekend, part of Manhattan restaurateur John Miller's Italian eatery, Arci's Place, will be soundproofed and partitioned to create a new 80-seat cabaret room, to be christened Nov. 3-27 by Broadway and cabaret singer Karen Mason. Miller hopes Mason (Sunset Boulevard, And the World Goes 'Round) will be the first of many marquee-name artists to perform at the spot, at 450 Park Avenue south at 30th Street.
A new lighting and sound system will be installed.
Barry Kleinbort will direct the Mason gig, which has a $25 cover and a $15 minimum. Mason's new Christmas album, "Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!," recorded live in 1998, will be released this fall.
