News Karen Ziemba Explores Native Gardens, Opening Tonight Tony winner Karen Ziemba stars in the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park production of Karen Zacarías' Native Gardens, which officially opens Jan. 28 following previews that began Jan. 23.

Directed by Playhouse artistic director Blake Robison, the production continues through Feb. 21 in the Robert S. Marx Theatre.

Ziemba portrays community denizen Virginia Capanini Butley. She is joined by John Lescault (as her husband and avid gardener Frank Butley) and Gabriel Ruiz and Sabina Zuniga Varela as Pablo and Tania Del Valle, respectively.

The world premiere, according to press notes, uses "comedy to dig into deeper issues of taste, class, privilege and entitlement with hilarious results."

Ziemba received Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for her portrayal of The Wife in the Tony-winning Contact.
