Newscaster Pia Lindstrom will host Inside Broadway's Broadway Beacon Award at a June 4 ceremony in Manhattan. This year's honorees include Karen Ziemba and Queens Borough President Claire Shulman.

The Beacon award is given to "individuals and organizations who have helped support their mission of bringing live theatre into city public schools," as a release states.

Ziemba (Contact, Steel Pier) is being honored for her work with Inside Broadway’s guest artist residency program giving students hands-on drama experience. Shulman will accept her award for efforts to increase funding for arts-in education programs in Queens public schools. Also, Continental Airlines will receive an award for the company’s dedication to furthering theatre and performance arts in the community.

At this year's presentation, director-choreographer Susan Stroman, Shubert Organization Chairman Gerald Schoenfeld and League of American Theatres & Producers Executive Director Jed Bernstein will hand out the prizes to this years honorees. Also being honored with a special award will also be presented to Eric Gural of Newmark & Company Real Estate for securing a new home for the organization.

The event will take place at Bertelsmann, Inc.'s Executive Dining Room, 1540 Broadway at 45th Street, starting at 6 PM. — by Ernio Hernandez
