"Set in Oregon Territory," reads press notes for Seven Brides, "this is the saga of seven back-wood brothers and their seven blushing sweethearts from town. Add an abduction, an avalanche and a seven-shotgun wedding, and you’ve got a vigorous evening of theatre to long remember."

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers features a book by Lawrence Kasha and David Landay, lyrics by Johnny Mercer, music by Gene de Paul and new songs by Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn. Directed by Lawrence Kasha, the original Broadway production played 15 previews and five regular performances at the Alvin Theatre in summer 1982. Debby Boone and the late David-James Carroll headed the cast. Kate Baldwin has appeared on Broadway in Wonderful Town, The Full Monty and Thoroughly Modern Millie as well as the City Center Encores! productions of Babes in Arms, A Connecticut Yankee and Bloomer Girl. She was also recently seen in the Paper Mill production of Hello, Dolly!

James Clow's Broadway credits include Assassins, Wonderful Town, Company, She Loves Me and Blood Brothers. He was also seen in the Off-Broadway mounting of Juno as well as the Carnegie Hall Sondheim celebration.
