Kate Benson’s play [PORTO] officially opens Off-Broadway February 6 at WP Theater. The co-production between WP, The Bushwick Starr, and New Georges is currently playing a return engagement after a critically acclaimed 2017 debut Off-Off-Broadway.

In [PORTO], a woman walks into a bar in a gentrifying Brooklyn neighborhood. When a handsome stranger walks in, an upside-down romantic comedy unfolds inside and outside of her imagination, causing desires to awaken and disruption to ensue.

Obie Award winner Lee Sunday Evans (Bull in a China Shop, Caught) directs a cast made up of Julia Sirna-Frest as Porto, Noel Joseph Allain (Luft Gangster, Queerspawn), playwright Benson, Ugo Chukwu (Ripcord, JOB), Jorge Cordova (Moment of Zen, Hillary), and Leah Karpel (The Harvest, Pocatello).

The limited Off-Broadway engagement began performances January 28 and is scheduled through February 25.

The production features set design by Kristen Robinson, costumes by Obie Award winner Ásta Bennie Hostetter, lighting by Amith Chandrashaker, and sound design by Kate Marvin (Somebody's Daughter, Happy Days). WP Lab alum Rachel Karpf (Stuffed, Queens) and John Del Gaudio (the food was terrible, Comfort Dogs: Live from the Pink House) are the line producers.

Tickets are now on sale via WPtheater.org or by calling (212) 765-1706.
