News Keir Dullea Goes From 2001 To 1904: Cherry Orchard in Bristol, PA Opens Feb. 9 "2001: A Space Odyssey" star Keir Dullea's next role will be in a story written in 1904: Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard. The Russian classic will be mounted at Bristol, PA's Bristol Riverside Theatre Feb. 9-28.

"2001: A Space Odyssey" star Keir Dullea's next role will be in a story written in 1904: Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard. The Russian classic will be mounted at Bristol, PA's Bristol Riverside Theatre Feb. 9-28.

Dullea will play Lopakhin, the merchant king who eventually buys and sells the family estate and orchard of the title.

Besides playing the space-suited commander Dave Bowman in Stanley Kubrick's film, "2001: A Space Odyssey," Dullea's films include "David and Lisa." On Broadway, he has appeared in Butterflies Are Free and as Brick in the Elizabeth Ashley revival of Cat of a Hot Tin Roof. He appeared in Molly Sweeney at NC's Playmakers Rep in 1997. His most recent stage appearance was in Double Act with Bonnie Franklin at New Hampshire's American Stage Festival.

Dullea is taking the place of Stephen Schnetzer, the "Another World" star who had previously been announced for the role. Edward Keith Baker directs.
