News Kellie Overbey Shane Stars in Premiere of Heifner Play, Earth to Bucky, July 8-27 Kellie Overbey Shane (formerly just Kellie Overbey) will head the cast the Bay Street Theatre's world premiere of Jack Heifner's Earth to Bucky, set to run July 8-27 in Sag Harbor, Long Island.

Overbey counts Buried Child, Present Laughter and Judgment at Nuremberg among her Broadway credits, but is best remembered by some theatregoers as the beleaguered eponymous heroine of Christopher Durang's satire Betty's Summer Vacation. Heifner also wrote Vanities.

Also in the cast are T. R. Knight, lately in Broadway's Noises Off, and Matt Kessler. Tom Caruso directs.

The play is set in a quiet, small Texas town. Knight and Kessler play two brothers, one a high-school football hero, the other his naive younger sibling and the Bucky of the title. Overbey is Patty Ann Fuller, a glamour girl who comes to town to bury her mother, while upsetting the brothers' lives.

Heifner's Vanities, also set in Texas, was one of the biggest hits Off-Broadway ever saw. After opening in 1976, it ran for 1,785 performances. Kathy Bates was in the original cast. His other plays include Running on Empty, Bargains and The Lemon Cookie.

Single ticket prices range from $38-$42, and opening night tickets are $60. Call (631) 725-9500.
