Only Spacey is currently confirmed for the production: He will play the role of film producer Bobby Gould. The Daily Mail reports, however, that Matthew Warchus considers Kelly to be the prefect foil for both Spacey and Goldublum, who is tipped to play the role of Charlie Fox in David Mamet's Hollywood satire. Laura Michelle Kelly won a 2005 Olivier for her title role performance in Mary Poppins. She is currently starring in Warchus' production of Lord of the Rings at London's Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

In Speed-the-Plow Kelly would take on the part of Karen, the role originated by Madonna in the 1988 New York world premiere.
