The Canadian quintet that rose to fame with their television series "The Kids in the Hall" from 1989-1994 are returning to the live stage once more. The sketch comedy troupe who toured two years ago begun their North American "Tour of Duty 2002" March 28 and will make a stop at New York City's Beacon Theatre April 14-15.
The group that takes its name from the Jack Benny line — "I got this one from the kids in the hall" — referring to aspiring joke writers outside his office will cross the States and Provinces through May. Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson comprise The Kids in the Hall. (Off-Broadway audiences may recall McKinney's turns in A Flea in Her Ear and Fuddy Meers.)
The new stageshow precedes the April 16 DVD release of the behind-the-scenes documentary of their 1999-2000 reunion tour. "Kids In The Hall: Same Guys, New Dresses" premiered at the Aspen Comedy Festival in March 2001. Their TV series can still be seen in reruns on Comedy Central and their feature film "Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy" is available in stores.
