Presented by The League of American Theatres and Producers, this year's eighth annual event will feature a kick-off party at Macy's Herald Square on Oct. 30 at 5 PM. That evening will include a concert with Broadway stars, a junior fashion show and free giveaways. Bernadette Peters, the two-time Tony Award winner who heads the cast of the hit revival of Gypsy at the Shubert Theatre, is the Ambassador for Kids' Night on Broadway 2004. Peters will be joined by Urinetown's Charles Shaughnessy and other Broadway stars for the Macy's kick-off event.
Among the shows participating in this season's Kids' Night are Avenue Q, Chicago, Beauty and the Beast, Aida, Fiddler on the Roof, 42nd Street, Gypsy, Hairspray, Little Shop of Horrors, Movin' Out, Never Gonna Dance, Nine, The Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Urinetown, Wicked, Wonderful Town as well as Off-Broadway's De La Guarda, Fame on 42nd Street and Stomp.
To date, Kids' Night on Broadway has provided hundreds of thousands of kids the chance to attend live New York theatre. In a statement last season League President Jed Bernstein said, "The Broadway community is committed to providing opportunities for young people to experience the magic of live theatre. Kids represent the next generation of our audience, and we believe that by making it easier for parents to introduce young people to theatre, Broadway is making a vital investment in its future."
Tickets to Kids' Night on Broadway will be available Oct. 31-Nov. 13 only. For more information, go to www.kidsnightonbroadway.com or call the Broadway Line at 1-888-BROADWAY.
