News Kimbrough, Smart, Gregory, Bissell and Carrier to Star in Noises Off in Cleveland Linda Kimbrough, Summer Naomi Smart and Timothy Gregory will star in Noises Off at the Cleveland Play House beginning Oct. 3.

David H. Bell directs Michael Frayn's popular backstage farce, which will officially open Oct. 8 and play through Oct. 26. A co-production with the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Noises Off will then play the Florida venue Nov. 11-23.

The comedy, which was a hit both in London and New York, follows a "hapless British acting troupe touring a production of Noises On. As actors in this play-within-a-play rehearse, mishaps like forgotten lines, dropped trousers and lost plates of sardines create onstage pandemonium. Meanwhile, it is total chaos backstage as love triangles, petty bickering and ruined affairs lead to pratfalls, flying props and more than one bloody nose. In the end, at the frenetic final performance, everything merges into one perfectly ravaged and wholly uproarious theatrical nervous breakdown."

The cast of Noises Off includes Kimbrough (Dotty Otley), Smart (Brooke Ashton) and Gregory (Lloyd Dallas) as well as Cassandra Bissell (Poppy Norton-Taylor), Donald Carrier (Frederick Fellowes), Isabel Liss (Belinda Blair), Christopher Kelly (Garry Lejeune), Frank Kopyc (Selsdon Mowbray) and Bob Turton (Tim Allgood).

Designing the production are James L. Joy (scenic design), David Kay Mickelson (costume design), Joseph Appelt (lighting design) and James C. Swonger (sound design).

Tickets are available by phoning (216) 795-7000 or by visiting ClevelandPlayhouse. *

Founded in 1915, the Cleveland Play House has presented the world premieres of Randal Myler's It Ain't Nothin' but the Blues, Michele Lowe's The Smell of the Kill, Eric Coble's Bright Ideas and Seth Greenland's Jerusalem.
