Not about royalty but chess pieces, King Without A Castle, the newest production from Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, begins performances March 10. Colombian born director Michael John Garces helms the mystical drama. Presented in both English (weekdays) and Spanish (weekends), Castle exposes the curse of fathers on their sons, as a world class chess player fights to keep his unborn child from succumbing to the spirit of his own dead father. Playwright Candido Tirado has collaborated with Garces on two other productions, Checking Out/Morir Sonando ( Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre ) and Hands of Stone (La MaMa).

Mexican actress-choreographer Anilu Pardo (The Passion of Frida Kahlo) plays the chess player's mother. Francisco Lorite (Bomber Jackets) plays the chess master. Also in the cast are Selenis Leyva and the playwright, Tirado.

Tickets are $20. The Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre is located at 304 West 47th Street. For tickets call (212) 354-1293.
