Tony winner Kelli O'Hara and Tony nominee Will Chase, who can both currently be seen in the Tony-nominated revival of Kiss Me, Kate, will take part in the fourth annual Arts for Autism benefit concert June 24 at the Gershwin Theatre.
The 7:30 PM benefit, which unites Broadway talent with young performing arts students from around the country to increase autism awareness, will also feature Adam Jacobs (Aladdin), Betsy Wolfe, Teal Wicks and a performance from the cast of The Cher Show, Kara Lindsay (Wicked), John Michael Dias (Jersey Boys), McKynleigh Abraham (Beautiful—The Carole King Musical), Katie Mollison (Billy Elliot), and more.
Special guest and keynote speaker Mickey Rowe will also discuss his journey as the first actor with autism to play the lead role in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
“You have to see Arts for Autism because it is the most beautiful experience to understand what the arts do for people that want a voice,” stated O’Hara, who has hosted the previous editions of the benefit and returns to emcee. “Arts for Autism is a night when you come to find inspiration. It’s a night of celebration. It’s a night of education.”Artistic Director Jacque Carnahan added, “The stellar Broadway talent, the young performers stepping onto a Broadway stage for the first time, the performers on the spectrum sharing their stories and inspiring all of us... there is nothing else like it. Any time you can give a young person the opportunity to use their talents to help others, it's a win-win situation and is something we hope they take with them for the rest of their lives.”
