News Korey, Runolfsson, Buntrock and More Sing Friedman at Listen to My Heart Showcase A new work-in-progress spotlighting the music of David Friedman will be performed at a by-invitation-only showcase May 2 at Upstairs at Studio 54.

Tony Award winner Debbie Gravitte will be joined by Alix Korey, Anne Runolfsson, Stephen R. Buntrock and Kevin Bailey for Listen to My Heart: The Songs of David Friedman, a two-act musical revue featuring the songs of composer Friedman. David Friedman has served as musical director for such Broadway productions as Saravà, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Song & Dance and Beauty and the Beast. He was also the conductor and vocal arranger for the Disney films “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Pocahontas” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Friedman wrote the music and lyrics to Disney’s “Aladdin and the King of Thieves,” and his songs have been performed by Nancy LaMott, Laurie Beechman, Barry Manilow, Diana Ross, Lainie Kazan and Leslie Uggams. Some of his most popular song titles include “Listen to My Heart,” “We Can Be Kind,” “Just in Time for Christmas,” “We Live on Borrowed Time” and “Help Is on the Way.”

Listen to My Heart: The Songs of David Friedman played a successful run at Dallas’ Lyric Stage. According to Friedman’s official website, the revue will play Off-Broadway in the fall.
