When Portland Opera in Portland, Oregon, decided it needed to raise $1 million, it turned to Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth, who will be the featured guest star at the company’s Baroque Ball, scheduled for September 16 at the Hampton Opera Center.

Described as “a night to celebrate timelessness, elegance, and the grand art of opera,” and “a feast for the senses,” the black-tie event will feature the Tony Award-winning Broadway star of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Wicked; The Apple Tree; and Promises, Promises. Though her most recent Broadway appearance was in On the Twentieth Century, which boasts a light-opera Cy Coleman score, not all of Chenoweth’s fans are aware that she was originally trained as an opera singer and has a master’s degree in opera performance from Oklahoma City University. She will demonstrate the results of her training at the gala.

Chenoweth won an Emmy Award for her performance on the TV series Pushing Daisies, and was nominated for two Emmys and a People’s Choice Award for her performance on Glee. Currently, Chenoweth plays Easter on the Starz series American Gods. She appeared opposite fellow Tony winner Sutton Foster in the season premiere of her TV Land series Younger.

The Portland event will begin at 6 PM with cocktails, followed by dinner and a live auction starting at 7 PM, and Chenoweth’s concert at 9. The Hampton Opera Center is located at 211 SE Caruthers St. in Portland.

Single tickets to the Baroque Ball cost $500. The opera is also selling sponsorships at $5,000, $10,000, $25,000, and $50,000—the top amount coming with a table for 10, limousine pickup, an official after-party reception, and a meet-and-greet with Chenoweth, among other premiums. To arrange a sponsorship, contact Andrea Tichy via email at [email protected] or by phone at (503) 417-0601.
