News Kristin Chenoweth to Appear on "CMT Next Superstar" Tony and Emmy-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth, most recently on Broadway in the revival of Promises, Promises, will make an appearance on an upcoming episode of "CMT Next Superstar."

The acclaimed singing actress will be seen on the reality program April 8 at 9 PM ET on CMT.

On the program, press notes state, "CMT searches to find America's next great country star and opens the door for undiscovered singer/songwriters who think they have what it takes to make it in the rough-and-tumble world of the music industry. The show allows the world to see every triumph and every setback unfold weekly. The contestants will share a house in Nashville -- providing a rare and revealing inside look at the all-ensuing drama that can take place when musical adversaries live and compete together."

Chenoweth, who received a Tony nomination for her work as Glinda in Stephen Schwartz's Wicked, has been seen on the New York stage in The Fantasticks, Scapin, Steel Pier, A New Brain, Epic Proportions, Strike Up the Band, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, The Apple Tree, Stairway to Paradise and Candide. The actress won her Tony Award for her performance as Sally Brown in the Broadway bow of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Her screen credits include "Four Christmases," "Into Temptation," "Pushing Daisies," "Kristin," "The West Wing," "The Music Man," "The Pink Panther," "Stranger Than Fiction," "Deck the Halls" and "Running with Scissors." Her solo recordings include "Let Yourself Go," "As I Am" and the newly released "A Lovely Way to Spend Christmas." She recently picked up her first Emmy Award for her work in ABC's "Pushing Daisies."
