The project — produced by Cassian Elwes, filmmaker J.C. Chandor, Robert Ogden Barnum and Will Clevinger — will be directed by James Oakley, who co-wrote the film with Alex Michaelides. Shooting is scheduled to begin in July, when Chenoweth's Broadway show On the Twentieth Century (for which she received a Tony nomination for) will conclude its run.
The movie will follow Harriet (Thurman) and Peter Fox, who travel to L.A. to avoid paying a large debt after a failed poker game. The two plan a jewel theft operation involving Peter's ex-wife and her new husband, Gabriel. Chenoweth will play Gabriel's pill-popping assistant, Gina.
Chenoweth will host this year's Tony Awards, which will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall June 7. Check out Playbill's Tony coverage here.
