The former New York Philharmonic music director, now the music director of the Orchestre National de France, selected the 14 conductors for the seminar after watching their videotaped auditions. They range in age from 22 to 31, and study at institutions in the United States, Europe, and Israel.

Masur will lead rehearsals starting at 9: 30 a.m. on January 23, 25, and 27 and at 7 p.m. on January 24 and 26. They are free and open to the public (but the post-rehearsal critiques are not).

The week culminates in a performance on January 27 at 8 p.m. featuring Mozart's Symphony No. 40, Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, and Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3. The concert is free but tickets are required.
