While he's there, the Caroline, or Change author will pick up an award in "Recognition for Outstanding Contribution to American Drama." Kushner will not be alone during his stay. Joining him will be such northeasterners as Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson, who will present their memoir evening Tennessee Williams Remembered; New York Times scribe Mel Gussow, who will talk about the famous playwright of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and The Glass Menagerie; and the video image of Paul Newman, who will present the inaugural "Memorable Encounters" dialogue, the first in a series of discussions featuring people who knew and worked with Williams.
Also on the agenda is Escape, a unproduced one-act play by Williams, which will be directed by Michael Kahn of the Shakespeare Theatre of Washington, DC.
