The production, which closes the season for the Geffen, is slated to run June 20-July 30.

Armstrong (Dudley "Booger" Dawson in the "Revenge of the Nerds" and TV's "Moonlighting") will play Haynes opposite Cranston ("Malcolm in the Middle" patriarch and "That Thing You Do!") as Welch, Fagerbakke (Assistant Coach "Dauber" Daubinski on "Coach" and HBO's "Oz") as Frank and Knowlton (Broadway's On the Town and Skylight) as Emma.

In The God of Hell, a rural Wisconsin farming couple out of touch with the world of politics find themselves amid a "plot involving military secrets, torture, and mysterious blue sparks" when two unwelcome visitors come to their door.

Randy Quaid, J. Smith-Cameron, Frank Wood and Tim Roth starred in the world premiere of God of Hell ("The" has since been added to the title) at the Actors Studio Drama School Theatre (formerly the Westbeth Theatre Center) in New York. Lou Jacob directed the Off-Broadway production which ran in November 2004. The work has since played in London at the Donmar Warehouse.

Alexander is known to television audiences for his "Seinfeld" turn as George Costanza. The actor has appeared on the Los Angeles boards in The Producers as Max Bialystock. His Broadway credits include Merrily We Roll Along, Broadway Bound, Accomplice, The Rink and Jerome Robbins' Broadway — for which he earned a Tony Award. His film credits include "Pretty Woman," "Shallow Hal," "The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle," (in voice only) "Aladdin," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," "Hercules," and the TV movies "Bye Bye Birdie," "Cinderella," and "A Christmas Carol." Shepard (also an actor and director) is known to the theatre world mainly as a playwright for such works as True West and his Pulitzer Prize winner Buried Child. He recently starred Off-Broadway in Caryl Churchill's A Number which marked his return to the stage after a 30-year absence. On film, he has appeared "Days of Heaven," "The Right Stuff," "Fool for Love," "Crimes of the Heart," "Baby Boom," "Steel Magnolias" and "The Pelican Brief."

The Geffen currently houses Arthur Miller's All My Sons with Len Cariou, Neil Patrick Harris and Laurie Metcalf (through May 21).
