LOS ANGELES -- The Jewish Women's Theatre Project has conceived of a special way to spend Mother's Day.

Momma Mommy Mom-- Celebrating Jewish Mothers will play for one performance only, Mother's Day, Sunday May 10 at 7 PM at the Gindi Auditorium in the University of Judaism.

A theatrical collage of drama and comedy, reverent and irreverent, songs and recipes, the show is co- produced by Jan Lewis of JWTP and Miriyam Glazer of the Dortort Writers Institute. Numerous playwrights have contributed to the event, including Merel Feld, Phoebe Frank, Ronda Spinak and Glazer herself.

Lewis said, "Miriyam and I were tired of all the stories that make fun of Jewish mothers. We thought for this Mother's Day it would be exciting to stage something entirely different--a celebration of Jewish moms. Miriyam has spent months gathering material by daughters and sons about their mothers as well as work by mothers about their children. There's comedy and sorrow, but most of all, lots of spirit."

The Jewish Women's Theatre is in its second year of programming. The Dortort Writers Institute, is headed by Glazer, a professor at the University of Judaism, which is located at 15600 Mulholland Drive in Bel Air. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Call (310) 476-9777, ext. #246.
