LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles will have an Elizabethean Halloween when Shakespeare Festival/LA presents Hauntings -- A Shakespearean Seance on Oct. 9 at the Center Green Theatre located in the Pacific Design Center.

The show "conjures the world of Shakespeare's ghosts, witches and the supernatural from Macbeth, Hamlet, Richard III and other plays," said a company spokesperson.

Directed by Tom O'Horgan with lighting by Tony Award-winning designer Jules Fisher, Hauntings will run through Oct. 31 with a special midnight seance on Halloweeen night.

O'Horgan was at the forefront of New York's Off-Broadway movement in the early 1960s, directing early works by Sam Shepard, Lanford Wilson and Leonard Melfi. In 1968 O'Horgan forever changed the face of Broadway when he and his colleagues presented the ground-breaking musical Hair after its premiere at the Public Theatre. O'Horgan's other credits include Lenny, Jesus Christ Superstar and Inner City, becoming the only director in history to have four Broadway shows running simultaneously.
