News Laila Robins Stars in King John at Shakespeare of NJ, July 29-Aug. 27 Broadway and Off-Broadway actress Laila Robins will star in a Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey production of the Bard's King John, running July 29 to Aug. 17.

Robins has been seen at the Madison, NJ, theatre for each of the last seven seasons, in such works as Three Sisters, Arms and the Man and Twelfth Night. On Broadway, her work includes The Herbal Bed and The Real Thing. Notable Off-Broadway credits include Tiny Alice and Mrs. Klein. The seldom-seen history play examines John, the brother of King Richard the Lionhearted, who seized the crown after Richard's death, though he was not the rightful heir. John's ascension angers France, which threatens war unless he abdicates in favor of 11-year-old Prince Arthur. Paul Mullins directs.

Robins will play Constance, Prince Arthur's mother. She co-stars with Brian Reddy as Cardinal Pandulph, Andrew Weems as King John, Christine McMurdo-Wallis as Queen Eleanor, Eric Hoffmann as Salisbury, Ian Kahn as Philip Faulconbridge, Edward James Hyland as Philip, King of France, Haynes Thigpen as Lewis, the Dauphin, and John Ahlin as Hubert.
