Evan Yionoulis (The Violet Hour) stages the work which begins April 22 and opens April 30 at The Duke on 42nd Street for a run currently slated through May 21.

A three-person drama in two acts, Sore Throats follows the story of a woman (Robins) whose 20-year marriage with a sometimes-brutal, sometimes-tender police inspector (Camp) still haunts her now that it is over, even as she experiments with alcohol, drugs and sex with her younger female roommate (Zinner).

The work was first presented in 1979 by the Royal Shakespeare Company at London's Warehouse Theatre. It reached the U.S. in 1983 at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and played a four-performance workshop in 1985 at the New York Theatre Workshop.

The title refers to a Bertolt Brecht quote: "I have heard that lovemaking can give you a swollen throat. I don't want one. But the swing-boats, I have heard can give you a swollen throat, too. So I shant be able to avoid it."

Brenton plays include Christie In Love, Brassneck, Magnificence, The Churchill Play, Weapons of Happiness, Epsom Downs, The Romans In Britain, Bloody Poetry and Pravda. The cast features Robins (Frozen, The Real Thing and The Herbal Bed), Camp (Homebody/Kabul, Jackie, Macbeth) and Zinner (RolePlay, The Importance of Being Earnest).

The design team include Adam Stockhausen (set), Katherine Roth (costumes), Don Holder (lighting) and Mike Yionoulis (sound).

Theatre for a New Audience kicked off its "Love Is a Problem" season co-presenting the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre of London's production of Measure For Measure with St. Ann's Warehouse at the latter company's space in Brooklyn. The company's previous show was William Shakespeare's All's Well That Ends Well starring Laurie Kennedy.

Tickets to Sore Throats at The Duke on 42nd Street, 229 West 42nd Street, can be purchased at (212) 239-6200. For more information, visit www.tfana.org.
