New Jersey's Two River Theatre Company presents its first ever Lambda Night, for gay and lesbian audiences, at the Dec. 19 show of their current production, Reckless, by Craig Lucas. Reckless runs at the Lauren K. Woods Theatre at Monmouth University, through Dec. 22.
Although this offbeat holiday drama begins with a domestic, normal-looking Christmas Eve, the play journeys into a bizarre and darkly comic territory, when a wife discovers her husband has taken a contract out on her life.
Lucas has been credited with making the gay lifestyle more accessible to the mainstream, not only through his several plays which received productions on and Off-Broadway, but also with his screenplay Longtime Companion the first major film dealing with AIDS.
