News LA's theFLEET Will Present Dark Comedy La Brea In Monthly Reading Series Los Angeles based theatre company theFLEET will continue their popular reading series with Gregory S. Moss' dark comedy La Brea – which explores the idiosyncrasies of the Los Angeles entertainment industry – in a one-night-only presentation Oct. 26 at 2 PM at the Bootleg Theater (2220 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA).

The reading will be directed by Cory Hinkle.

La Brea was first produced at Clubbed Thumb in 2013 and it marks the fourth reading for fledgling company theFLEET, "since launching its public reading series as Los Angeles' esteemed Bootleg Theater last January. Previous readings include Bekah Brunstetter's The Orgeon Trail, Cory Hinkle's a disappearance in two parts and Caleb Scott's Tobi or the Memory Machines."

Here's how the play is billed: "La Brea is the story of Leah and her aspiring actor brother Steven, two Massholes trying to survive in the Hollywood vortex of strip malls and Scientologists, who square off over how to live like grow-ups."

The cast will feature Analeis Anderson, Georgia Cohen, Brandon Drea, Trilby Glover, Matt Gottlieb, Eric Murdoch, Lucas Near-Verbrugghe (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, The Ritz), Zoran Radanovich and Russell Salmon.

theFLEET Reading Series is dedicated to gathering actors, writers, directors and designers currently residing in Los Angeles to meet once a month and read great works from classic and contemporary writers. There is a $5 suggested donation; for reservations email [email protected].
